Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce high quality expanded slag having a high degree of expansion in a high yield. SOLUTION: This expanded slag compsn. is represented by the formula (1-w) xSiO2 -yAl2 O3 -zCaO}-w Na2 O-K2 O-P2 O5 -B2 O3 } (where x+y+z=1). The ratio (x:y:z) of SiO2 :Al2 O3 :CaO in this compsn. is on a line connecting points A (x=0.630, y=0.065, Z=0.305), B (x=0.370, y=0.130, z=0.500), C (x=0.670, y=0.180, z=0.150) and D (x=0.370, y=0.270, z=0.360) in an SiO2 -Al2 O3 -CaO three-component diagram or in the range defined by the line and the amt. (w) of an additive made of Na2 O, K2 O, P2 O5 , B2 O3 or a mixture of them is 0.01-0.05.
