Abstract:
A toothed belt drive consisting of a toothed belt and a toothed pulley engaging in the teeth of the latter, power being transmitted between the belt and the toothed pulley by the mutually contacting flanks of the teeth of the respective part of the toothed belt drive, is to be configured in such a way that the relatively high shear forces which occur when a high power is transmitted can be absorbed without premature damage to the toothed belt.
For this purpose, the invention provides that the belt teeth are each provided with an approximately conically tapering recess which starts from their top surface and the mutually facing walls (5a, 5b) have a curvature which corresponds to the curvature of the outer flanks of the belt tooth (3a, 3b), the size (G) of the recess allowing the inner walls of the recess to be designed as power-transmitting flanks, and a correspondingly designed projection of the belt pulley, the said projection being arranged between two pulley teeth, in each case engaging in the recess.
