Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an aerogel having enough transparency and excellent porosity and heat insulating property by subjecting a gel material obtd. from oligomers of alkoxysilane to supercritical drying. CONSTITUTION:A gel material obtd. by hydrolysis and condensation polymn. of alkoxysilane is subjected to supercritical drying to produce a transparent aerogel. As for the alkoxysilane compd., an oligomer of alkoxysilane is used as the source material for the reaction. As for the oligomer of alkoxysilane, at least one kind of oligomer is preferably selected from oligomers of tetramethoxysilane having 250-600 average mol.wt. and oligomers of tetraethoxysilane having 300-800 average mol.wt.
