Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve safety, reliability and construction easiness of a ferroconcrete containment of an improved boiling water reactor. CONSTITUTION:In the vicinity of surrounding floor slab 2 position of a reinforced concrete-made containment vessel(RCCV) 1 surrounding a reactor pressure vessel A, a tension ring 4 made of a high tension steel with a high capacity and a low stiffness like a TMCP steel (for example SM steel) is provided so that its inner surface comes into contact with the outer surface of the RCCV 1. When the RCCV 1 swells due to heat and pressure, hoop tension is induced in the tension ring 4, which operates on the RCCV 1 as hoop compression.
