Abstract:
PURPOSE:To solder only the metal flat plate positioned within the predetermined region of a honeycomb structure and the ridge parts of the metal corrugated plate positioned within said region in producing a carrier for a catalyst converter by forming the honeycomb structure using the flat metal plate and the corrugated metal plate and subsequently soldering the flat plate and the corrugated plate. CONSTITUTION:A honeycomb structure 3 is formed by alternately laminating a flat metal plate and a corrugated metal plate to wind the same in a roll form and inserted in a metal outer cylinder 4. Subsequently, a solder material is bonded to the outer peripheral region of the honeycomb structure. Next, a high frequency current is allowed to flow to the induction heating coil 12 arranged to the outer peripheral surface of the outer cylinder 4 and the outer cylinder 4 and the honeycomb structure 3 are moved up and down in the direction along the axial line Z of the honeycomb structure and the outer cylinder 4 and the flat plate and corrugated plate positioned within predetermined definite depth H1 from the outer periapheral surface 3a of the honeycomb structure and heated to the m.p. of the solder material or higher by induction heating.
