Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prepare the title film excellent in abrasion resistance without detriment to the color tone and gloss of a substrate by forming a monomolecular film or built-up monomolecular films of a fluorocarbon with a thickness of the order of monometer the substrate in such a manner that the film or films are bonded to the substrate surface by chemical bonds (covalent bonds). CONSTITUTION:A monomolecular film is formed by bringing a substrate having hydroxyl groups at its surface into contact with a nonaq. solvent contg. a fluorocarbon surfactant having chlorosilyl groups at both molecular ends to react the hydroxyl groups with the chlorosilyl groups to thereby precipitate the surfactant on the surface, washing the surface with the nonaq. solvent to remove an unreacted surfactant, and reacting the precipitate with water. The above process may be repeated twice or more to form chemisobed built-up monomolecular films having a hydrophilic surface.
