Abstract:
An improved method for the production of 4-bromo-3-alkyl phenol ether, particularly 4-bromo-3-methylanisole is described. The method involves establishing 3-alkyl phenol ether as a vapor in a reaction zone of a reactor, and establishing bromine as a vapor. Thereafter the bromine vapor is introduced to the reaction zone of the reactor and commingled with the established 3-alkyl phenol ether vapor. Dibrominated impurity is substantially reduced.
