Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve positioning accuracy by suppressing the rotational vibrations of a base structure at the time of a seek operation acting on an access mechanism and decreasing the settling residual vibrations of a magnetic head as well. CONSTITUTION:This supporting mechanism is constituted by fastening plural pieces of external device mounting members 20 fastened via vibration proof legs 16 to the four corners of a base structure by means of reinforcing members 25 and by disposing these members in parallel with the seek operation direction of the access mechanism in such a manner that a high rigidity effect and a high attenuation effect act. The rotational vibrations generated by the seek operation of the access mechanism are decreased in this way.
