Abstract:
PURPOSE:To read out erect and inverted characters optionally by one standard pattern by extracting the feature of a rotated character as it is, changing a feature code representing a feature element, and making it same as a feature group obtained from the character before rotating. CONSTITUTION:Image information from a scanner 1 is transmitted to a feature extracting part 2, and plural number of features are extracted, and in a feature recombinating part 3, the correspondence of the feature element applied in the feature extracting part 2 by the head and ail information of the character and its feature code is reapplied equally by a fixed rule, and simultaneously these feature elements themselves are changed. A standard pattern storage part 5 preliminarily stores the feature pattern of the plural number of characters to be standard at every character. In a discriminating part 4, the output of the feature recombinating part 3 and the output of the standard pattern storage part 5 are compared successively, and the classification code (the discriminated result) of the standard pattern considered to be equivalent to the read character is outputted. Thus, it is possible to read out the erect and inverted characters optionally by the one standard pattern.
