Abstract:
PURPOSE:To facilitate positioning by forming holes (groove) on an optical element side and an electric element side and connecting them using a positioning rod and an optical wiring array where holes (groove) are provided similarly. CONSTITUTION:A fiber array 3 is constituted by forming holes 41 - 44 for fiber positioning and holes 51 - 52 for array positioning in a substrate by photolithography and anisotropic etching and an Si substrate is normally used. Further, holes 71 - 72 for positioning are formed in a substrate 8 where a light emitting (receiving) element 9 is formed by the same process with holes (groove) 51 and 52. In this case, the fiber array 3 and substrate 8 are positioned automatically by inserting a rod 1 into the holes (groove) 51 and 71 and a rod 2 into 52 and 72 so that they penetrate the holes. Consequently, the need for optical axis adjustments at the time of assembly is eliminated substantially and the assembling process is facilitated.
