Abstract:
Intervertebral disc endoprosthesis having two prosthesis plates (1, 2) to be connected with the end plates of the associated vertebral bodies, and a prosthetic core (3) interacting with at least one prosthesis plate via an articular surface (6) permitting a rotary movement about the upward axis. In order to permit a rotary movement about the upward axis (9) while at the same time opposing this movement with a resistance, the articular surface forms curvatures of different mean radius in the median section and in the frontal section. The radius of curvature in the sagittal section is expediently smaller than that in the frontal section. In order to avoid excessive twisting, stops may be provided on the prosthesis plates and the prosthesis core. These are designed, for example, as ribs and grooves extending in the median plane.
