Abstract:
PURPOSE:To promote settlement of matte particles suspended in slag and to reduce loss of copper by spreading a part of the matte discharged from a flash smelting furnace on the slag surface from a charging hole. CONSTITUTION:Charging holes 18 for molten matte are arranged at a settler part and a roof in a slag smelting furnace in suitable intervals. The molten matte stored in a holding furnace 20 is continuously taken out by each constant quantity and distributed into each molten matte charging hole 18 through a trough 19 and charged into the flash smelting furnace 1. The molten matte charging holes 18 are set almost in the right angle direction to flowing direction of the slag, and the charged molten matte 21 is dispersed to the whole furnace width direction of the slag in the furnace 1. The molten matte 21 is dropped on the slag by gravity to stir the slag and becomes comparatively large matte particles and is dispersed in the slag. The matte particles are quickly settled, and while sticking the fine matte particles existing in the slag, these are made bulky, and settled to matte layer below the slag layer. By this method, the loss of copper into the slag can be reduced.
