Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent signal charges from being mixed between picture elements by a method wherein the phase of a driving clock for a transfer gate electrode is advanced more than that of a driving clock for a storage gate electrode. CONSTITUTION:Signal charges from vertical shift registers in individual rows in an image pickup part 7 are transferred simultaneously to individual storage gate parts 3 in a first horizontal shift register 1. Driving clocks phiH1T, phiH2T whose phase is advanced more than that of driving clocks phiH1S, phiH2S for the storage gate electrodes are applied to transfer gate electrodes 4 in horizontal transfer electrodes. Consequently, the driving clocks phiH1T, phiH2T of the transfer gate electrodes 4 which act to separate the signal charges in adjacent picture elements are transited to a low level from a high level earlier than the driving clocks phiH1S, phiH2S of the storage gate electrodes 4. Thereby, a potential difference is maintained between the adjacent transfer gate electrodes 4, and it is possible to prevent the signal charges from being mixed between the adjacent picture elements.
