Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an measuring method which can quickly measure the damage degree of a ground rock and of a soil material using a simple device and operation without requiring a number of devices, complex equipment, and a large labor and expenditure for setting them. SOLUTION: In this measuring method, a core sample is gathered from a ground rock or a soil material, and acoustic emission generated when the core sample is uniaxially compressed is measured to obtain a damage degree coefficient X from the equation X=SAE×Sc/P2 (wherein P is the maximum load stress at the time of measuring the acoustic emission; SAE is a load stress at a point where the acoustic emission generating number begins to remarkably increase as a ratio to the maximum load stress P in a process applying a load while increasing it at the time of measuring the acoustic emission; and Sc is a uniaxial compressive strength of the ground rock or earth material which is normal).
