Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of fluctuation of the kneading condition of lead powder and water and dilute sulfuric acid, and obtain the uniform composition and grain size by reducing the pressure inside of a mixing machine to 0.6 atmospheric pressure or lower, and jetting a predetermined quantity of water, which is pressurized to 2 atmospheric pressure of higher. CONSTITUTION:Lead powder 4 of 500kg., which is mainly composed of lead oxide (PbO), is put in a mixing machine 1 and it is stirred by a stirrer 5, while the water which is pressurized to 3 atmospheric pressure by a high pressure pump 6, is jetted from a nozzle 3 of a tank 2 into the mixing machine 1 at a rate of 150l per minute, Next, with the jetting of this water, dilute sulfuric acid of 40l having specific gravity of 0.40 is added to be kneaded. The lead powder 4 inside of the machine 1 is stirred by the stirrer 5, while the pressure inside of the machine 1 is reduced to 0.6 atmospheric pressure by a vacuum pump 7, and the water is jetted. Permeability of water and dilute sulfuric acid into the lead powder layer can be thereby increased, and the water and the dilute sulfuric acid are evenly permeated into the lead powder, and they can be kneaded. Consequently, the active material paste having the uniform composition and grain size can be obtained to improve the charge and discharge cycle lifetime characteristic.
