Abstract:
PURPOSE:To easily and accurately detect the vehicle pitch angle based on the relation between the pitch angle and the width of the white lines on the road on a picture sensor for vehicle which detects the vehicle pitch angle based on the width of the white lines on the road or traffic lens photographed by a camera fixed on the vehicle. CONSTITUTION:When the pitch angle of a vehicle is '0', the position where the white line separated by the prescribed distance is photographed, is set as Y=Ya. When a specific pitch angle occurs in the vehicle, templates with some kinds of width are set corresponding to the width of the white line on the road to be photographed at the position of Y=Ya. The comparative picture with the same size is segmented from the area of Y=Ya during the camera is picking up the image. By performing the correlation arithmetic operation by template matching, the template with the highest correlation is selected. The pitch angle to be set on the corresponding template is detected as the pitch angle of the vehicle.
