Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the optical pattern recognition and classification device which can secure position steadiness with an extremely small number of input units. CONSTITUTION:The optical pattern recognition and classification device consists of at least a coherent light source, a 1st device 1 which displays a 1st pattern, a 1st Fourier transforming lens 21 which optically processes the complex amplitude distribution of luminous flux emitted by the 1st device 1 by Fourier transformation, a photodetecting element 41 which is arranged on the Fourier transformation surface of the 1st Fourier transforming lens 21 and detects the quantity of light transmitted through or reflected by a 2nd device 3, and a means 5 which receives the output of the photodetecting element 41 as the output of cross correlation between a 1st and a 2nd pattern, recognizes and classifies the patterns to be examined according to the cross-correlation output.
