Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make compressing and expanding of audio data employing difference audio data executable with a simple algorithm. SOLUTION: An effective difference data generating section 20 divides the difference data obtained in a difference section 10 into a most significant bit and absolute value data that are other than the most significant bit, retrieves the data from a significant bit side and extracts four-bit effective difference data from the bit position where a first digital value '1' appears. A code added effective difference data generating section 40 generates code added effective difference data that are made by combining code bits and the effective difference data. A shift amount computing section 50 obtains the amount of shift of the effective difference data with respect to the absolute value data. A compressed data output section 50 combines the code added effective difference data and the amount of shift to obtain compressed audio data and outputs the data to a memory 60.
