Abstract:
PURPOSE:To put to practical use in various engines by purifying NOX in the wide temperature region of exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:In an exhaust pass 1 of exhaust gas is installed a high and medium temp. active purifying catalyst 2 for decomposing NOX when exhaust gas is above the prescribed temp. On the downstream side of the high and medium temp. active purifying catalyst 2 is installed a low temp. active purifying catalyst 3 for decomposing NOX when exhaust gas is under the prescribed temp. For example, on the upstream side of the high and medium temp. active purifying catalyst 2 in the exhaust pass 1 is installed a Co ion exchange metal contg. silicate catalyst 4. An air introducing pass 6 for passing air for cooling the low temp. active purifying catalyst 3 is connected.
