Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve cycle characteristics during charging and discharging by employing a lithium composite cobalt oxide of which synthetic completion degree is within a specified range for a positive electrode active substance. SOLUTION: A tri-cobalt tetra-oxide and a lithium carbonate is mixed when a mol ratio of Co and Li is 1:1, LiCoO2 obtained by burning in the air at 900 deg.C for 5 hours is a positive electrode active substance, and the synthetic completion degree thereof is 95 to 100wt.%. Therefore, incomplete LiCo2 that partially exists is less, crystal structure strength is high, and crystal structure destruction can be restricted even during expansion and shrinkage of crystal lattice by implantation and release of Li<+> ion during charging or discharging. In powder 100 pts.wt. of this active substance LiCoO2 , acetylene black 3 pts.wt., graphite powder 4 pts.wt., fluororesin resin fixer 7 pts.wt., and carboxyle methyl cellulose aqueous solution are mixed and suspended to make a paste state. This is dried by applying an active substance LiCoO2 quantity per unit area evenly to both ends of aluminum foil and is rolled by a roll press machine to form a positive lelctrode plate. Thereby, cycle characteristics can be improved.
