Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily set a desired spark gap by providing a housing on the outside of an insulator provided at the circumference of a central electrode and a protruding part protruding axially from the end surface thereof and having a connection part at the tip, and providing the desired gap between the connection part of the protruding part and the tip of the central electrode through welding. SOLUTION: A protruding part 2 is formed into J-shape on the end surface of a housing, so that the tip surface 34a of a central electrode 4 is opposed to the side surface of the protruding part 20 via a noble metal chip 22. The protruding part 20 has a groove part 20b formed in the axial direction of the central electrode 4, and the noble metal chip 22 having substantially the same width as that of the groove part 20b is fitted to the groove part 20b of the protruding part 20 and fixed by resistant welding. Since the protruding part 20 formed on the end surface of the housing has a J-shape, a spark gap G can be easily adjusted even if the position slippage of an ground electrode 21 is caused in its welding to the protruding part 20.
