Abstract:
An image forming apparatus where the resistivity value of magnetic carrier in a developer of a two-component developing device is higher than that of magnetic particles for charging in a magnetic brush contact charger, the charging performance of the magnetic brush charging is prevented from being lowered even when the magnetic carrier is mixed into the magnetic brush contact charger, and thus, a satisfactory image without fog, unevenness in the image, and the like can be obtained for a long time even when it is applied to a cleanerless system according to the cleaning method simultaneous with developing. In case A=log Rv/Rc, B=lv/lc, alpha=⅕.B/A.lv, and beta=B/A.lv wherein Rc is the volume resistivity of the magnetic particles of the magnetic brush charger, lc is the average particle diameter of the magnetic particles, Rv is the volume resistivity of the magnetic carrier of the two-component developer, and lv is the average particle diameter of the magnetic carrier, when A/B>=2, C>=5% wherein C (%) is the ratio in volume of magnetic particles having the particle diameters ranging from alpha to beta the whole magnetic particles.
