Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the method to make countermeasure and restoration to a network fault by controlling automatically a path such as communication lines configured as a network. SOLUTION: Each router in a computer network has a path table in which adjacent destination routers are registered for each communication. In the case of communication by a work station 11 via routers 4, 1 with a main frame 13, when the router 4 is defective, the router 4 reports a fault to adjacent routers 1, 2, 3. Each router receiving the notice excludes the router 4 to update the path table and other adjacent router is registered as a substitute router. Thus, a substitute path via routers 2, 5, 3, 1 is automatically set.
