Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stand-by system to a terminating apparatus which is unconscious about redundancy configuration of hardware/firmware. SOLUTION: An apparatus state managing section 6 manages three apparatus states of 'operable', 'nonoperable' and 'trouble' for each of a plurality of protocol terminating apparatuses 3-1 to 3-n. An operating state managing section 7 manages three operating states of 'operation', 'stand-by' and 'nonoperation' for each of the plurality of protocol terminating apparatuses 3-1 to 3-n, and causes transition of three operating states of at least one of the plurality of protocol terminating apparatuses 3-1 to 3-n when three apparatus states are altered. Upon occurrence of a trouble in the terminating apparatuses 3 terminating a specified communication protocol among internal units constituting a communication controller using an ATM system cell transmission as bearer, that terminating apparatus is disconnected from the operation system and a stand-by terminating apparatus 3-j of the same type is built in the operation system. The terminating apparatuses 3 and the apparatus state managing section 6 can be switched to a stand-by apparatus upon occurrence of a trouble unconsciously of the redundancy arrangement.
