Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a flange for a spherical joint, by which the manufacturing cost can be reduced by forming the flange for a spherical joint by cold press working, and the degree of freedom for purchasing a product can be increased. CONSTITUTION: A flange for a spherical joint is formed by cold press-working a steel plate which has a boss part 3 and a flange part 2 formed by burring and a thickness ranging from 5mm to 10mm, with the outline of the boss part 3 containing a bearing surface 3a contacting a gasket and the outline of the flange part 2 containing a weld formed on a flange surface 2a welded to an exhaust pipe restricted to have a boss which ensures the perpendicularity, flatness and accuracy of face roughness of the bearing surface 3a, and a flange 2 where a weld of a designated shape is formed.
