Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce consumption of toner by resist adjustment or toner density adjustment by confirming the attaching position of a sensor, based on the detected result of a pattern image by the sensor and forming the pattern image in a minimum size at a proper position, according to the attaching position of the sensor confirmed. SOLUTION: An initial pattern image IPP, consisting of a first linear pattern image IPP1 in parallel with the main scanning direction on the surface of an image carrier and a second pattern image IPP2, whose position in a subscanning direction is shifted stepwise is formed, and is read by a detection sensor 232. Detection time Ts (ms) is calculated, using the read timings T1-T4 of the detection sensor 232 and is expressed in terms of a deviation distance Ls (mm) in the attaching position of a detection sensor 232. The forming position of the pattern image in the main scanning direction by the resist adjustment or the toner density adjustment or the like thereafter is corrected, based on the deviation distance Ls.
