To reduce the dimensions of a portable device, without miniaturizing a connector itself that is provided on the portable device.

This portable device is a charger 10 that has the double functions of charging an incorporated battery of a mobile telephone and of charging a secondary battery stored inside the box of the device. When this charger is used, an external connector of the portable telephone is connected to a first connector 11, and a particular charger for the mobile telephone is connected to a second connector 19 provided on a protective cap 12 of the first connector. When this charger is not used, the protective cap is put on the first connector, to make the first and second connectors connected to each other.
