To provide an engine control device for promoting development of the negative intake pressure while preventing the engine speed from excessively rising at the time of starting the car engine.

The engine control device for a car comprises blow-by passages 15a, 15b for supplying blow-by gas to intake air introduced from the outside of the engine. The device comprises a blow-by control valve 17 arranged at the blow-by passage 15b for controlling flow rate of the blow-by gas supplied to the intake air and a control means 13 for closing the blow-by control valve 17 until predetermined conditions are satisfied after starting the engine and passing the peak time of the engine speed.
