Abstract:
The lamp has a transparent discharge vessel (2) contg. two electrodes (3) mounted opposite each other. The electrodes are connected to leads passing out of the vessel. The vessel contains an ionisable medium, consisting of mercury, at least one rare gas, at least one halogen, a rare earth metal and a further metal for the formation of metal halogenides. The further metal can be niobium, which can make up between 0.3 and 1.5 micromoles per cubic centimetre of the vessel's vol. Alternatively, the further metal can be dysprosium, which can make up between 0.3 and 3 micromoles per cubic centimetre of the vessel's vol.
