Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material for forming an insulation film, capable of being rapidly dried after the coating, and capable of providing the even surface of the coating film because of the good leveling properties and further to allow a plasma display panel(PDP) capable of being produced in a time shorter than that in the conventional process and excellent in displaying appearance quality in good yield by producing the insulation film of the PDP by using the coating material. SOLUTION: This coating material for forming a dielectric layer 6 of the PDP for displaying an image by exciting a fluorescent substance 3 by ultraviolet rays generated by plasma discharging between two display electrodes 4, allowing a visual light to penetrate a protective film 7, a dielectric layer 6 and a surface glass substrate 1 to display the image consists of an inorganic component and an organic component comprising a resin and a solvent. The solvent is the one comprising >=80 wt.% total of organic solvents (A group) having 100-140 deg.C boiling points and organic solvents (B group) having 140-200 deg.C boiling points regulated so that the ratio (A/B) of the weight % of the A-group to the wt.% of the B-group may be (1/5)-(25/5). The weight ratio of the resin to the inorganic component is regulated so as to be 1-15 wt.%.
