To provide photographing control technique to accurately inform a subject of a photographing range and acquire an excellent subject image in automatic photography using a self timer or the like.
The imaging apparatus includes: a subject information acquiring part 25 acquiring subject information including the positions of the face areas of the respective subjects to be photographed from a main photographic image and a peripheral photographic image that is the peripheral image of the main photographic image; a photography decision part 27a deciding the arrangement of the face area of the subject to be photographed in the main photographic image and the peripheral photographic image based on the subject information; and a photographing control part 27b performing control to perform shutter operation for performing the photography when it is decided that the face areas of all the subjects are included in the main photographic image, and to make a speaker 4 give a notice to urge the subjects to move to the inside of the main photographic image based on the positions of the face areas in the peripheral photographic image when it is decided that a part of or all of the face areas exist out of the main photographic image.
