To reduce a detection omission of object with an object detection apparatus monitoring a prescribed region and to make precisely recognizable the detail of even an object having a large difference between light and shade.
A monitoring region is photographed by using n-sets of cameras 201 different in exposures. A stereo picture processing is performed on a picture that n-sets of cameras 201 photographed and an object entering the monitoring region is detected. When the object entering the monitoring region is detected, picture parts whose exposures are appropriate are taken out from n-pieces of pictures different in the exposures, and a picture of a wide dynamic range is synthesized. Then, the detail of the object is recognized by using the composited picture.
