Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain granular fertilizer having high resistance to impact in handling and large elution speed by using a specific amount of an ethylene-α olefin copolymer having a specific molecular distribution and density as a coating material. SOLUTION: Granular fertilizer in an amount of 100 pts.wt. is coated with 1-50 pts.wt. coating material containing an ethylene-3-20C α-olefin random copolymer having 1-6 ratio (Mw/Mn) of weight average molecular weight Mw to number average molecular weight Mn each calculated by GPC, 0.865-0.945 g,/cm<3> density measured by ASTM-D 1505 method and 0.1-100 g/ 10 min melt index (at 190 deg.C under 2.16 kg load) to provide the objective coated granular fertilizer. As necessary, a thermoplastic resin having low moisture permeability, a thermoplastic resin having high moisture permeability, non-hydrophilic filler, a hydrophilic substance such as surfactant, a water soluble substance or hydrophilic filler are contained in the above coating material to provide sigmoid elution type coated granular fertilizer.
