Abstract:

To provide a relay apparatus capable of setting a global IP address for connection to the Internet to an apparatus connected via an Ethernet (R).

The relay apparatus informs the apparatus connected via the Ethernet (R) about the global IP address of the relay apparatus provided from an Internet service provider (ISP) and sets the global IP address to the apparatus. Further, the relay apparatus recognizes a gateway address notified from the ISP as an IP address of the relay apparatus itself. Then the relay apparatus relays an IP packet whose destination is the global IP address of the relay apparatus itself to the apparatus without the need for IP address conversion by a NAT function.
