To provide a highly reliable optical module that can easily and quickly provide an optical path conversion body having a face superior in flatness as a light reflection face or an element disposition face, that further makes light connection highly efficient between a surface emitting element having a plurality of light sources and a plurality of light transmission bodies, and that at the same time can control light output of the surface emitting element.
The optical module is equipped with: a surface emitting element 5 installed on a low position face 1a of a substrate 1 and having a plurality of light emitting points; a columnar optical path conversion body 2 having an upper and a lower face 2a, 2b which are formed by anisotropic etching and a light reflection face 2c which is mirror-finished non-etching face reflecting the emission light of the surface emitting element 5; a plurality of light transmission bodies 8 installed on a high position face 1b of the substrate 1 and irradiated with reflected light from the optical path conversion body 2; and a fixing block 3 which, covering the light transmission bodies 8, aligns the optical path conversion body 2 with the light transmission bodies 8 by making one side of the bottom of a groove 7 engaged with a part of the light reflection face 2c of the optical path conversion body 2.
