To provide an image pickup element cleaning device for effectively removing dusts or the like intruding when an image pickup lens is attached/detached from the surface of an image pickup element, and for preventing dusts or the like from being deposited onto the surface of the image pickup element when the image pickup lens is removed and a camera system equipped with the image pickup element cleaning device.
This image pickup element cleaning device (1) is configured to clean an image pickup element installed in the camera main body of a camera system where an image pickup lens(L) can be exchanged, and provided with a wiper means (16) for removing dusts deposited onto the image pickup element, wiper supporting means (6, 8, 10, 12) and wiper driving means (20, 22, 24). The wiper supporting means is configured to support the wiper means to move along the surface of the image pickup element. The wiper driving means is configured to drive the wiper means along the surface of the image pickup element when the image pickup lens is mounted and/or removed on/from the camera main body.
