To provide a transition critical refrigerant cycle device having supercritical pressure on the high pressure side with an evaporator having improved cooling capability.
The device comprises an internal heat exchanger 160 for heat exchange between refrigerant coming out of a gas cooler 154 and refrigerant coming out of the evaporator 157, a pressure reducing mechanism 162 for reducing the pressure of the refrigerant coming out of the gas cooler 154 in the internal heat exchanger 160, and a sub-cooler 164 for cooling the refrigerant coming out of the gas cooler 154 and coming out of the internal heat exchanger 160 before going into an expansion valve 156. The pressure reducing mechanism 162 in the internal heat exchanger 160 transfers at least part of the refrigerant coming out of the gas cooler 154 into a condition below a critical point.
