Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active material for a lithium secondary battery stable and having few phase transitions. SOLUTION: This active material is composed of Li[Me1/2 Mn3/2 ]O4 , where Me is a bivalent ion wherein the number of (d) electrons substitutable to Mn is neither 4 nor 9, and the valence analysis value of Mn is 3.90 or more and less than 4.00, and has one stage of discharge characteristic at about 3.5-2.0V. Mg and Ni may be used as Me, and in X-ray diffraction by Cu-K α line, diffraction peaks can be found in the vicinity of 67.9, 15.3, and 24.3 degrees.
