Abstract:

To provide an engine control device of a vehicle, which appropriately settles problems where a necessary driving force cannot be obtained, vibration is increased, or the engine braking force varies, even when trouble occurs in a device mounted in the driving system of the vehicle and the vehicle is in the limited running condition to further limit the control of the device.

When it is determined by a transmission control limiting determining means 106 that the gear ratio control by an automatic transmission 16 is limited, the control of an intake valve 74 and/or exhaust valve 75 is changed according the to the limiting condition of the gear ratio control by an electromagnetic driving valve control changing means (valve control changing means) 112. Accordingly, the control of the intake valve 74 and/or exhaust valve 75 is changed to the side where the low speed side output torque of the engine 10 becomes large, and therefore, even if the rotation speed of the engine is low during the limited running period, a necessary driving force is obtained.
