To provide a driving force transmission device for a four-wheel drive vehicle, having simplified mechanical construction for preventing the hunting of a clutch.
The driving force transmission device comprises a sun gear 11 to which driving force is input from a first or second driving source, a planetary gear 12 meshing with the sun gear 11, a ring gear 13 meshing with the planetary gear 12, a carrier 14 pivotally supporting the planetary gear 12, to which rotating force to be transmitted to other wheels 2 is output, one clutch member 16 to be rotated together with the ring gear 12, the other clutch 16 to be rotated together with the carrier 14, an elastic member 17 for energizing both clutch members 16 in the direction of fastening each other, and a centrifugal element member 18 using centrifugal force for thrusting both clutch members 16 in the direction of releasing each other. A planetary gear set 10 is so constructed that the thrust of the ring gear 13, generated by mutually meshing the gears, is applied to both clutch members 16 in the direction of releasing each other in accordance with driving force input to the sun gear 14.
