To reduce power consumption, when displaying image on a liquid crystal display, and to speedily execute a signal processing other than the liquid crystal display.
Image data once stored in memory 22 are read out continuously or intermittently and are supplied to a liquid crystal drive circuit 28 via a signal processing circuit 18 and a video output circuit 24. When the liquid crystal drive circuit 28 is supplied intermittently with a video signal, the circuit 28 stops outputting pulses necessary for the liquid crystal display, when the video signal is not input, and holds a current image being displayed on an LCD panel 30. The image data for the liquid crystal display are intermittently read out of the memory 22, and other signal processings, such as processings for recording the image data are carried out, by accessing the memory 22 during the period, when the read-out for the liquid crystal display is halted.
