To provide a search system, a search server, a portable terminal, and a search object authenticating method in which an identity can be confirmed when a search object is discovered.
When starting the search of the search object, a search server SRV generates an identification code for uniquely identifying the relevant search and correspondently stores the portable terminal held by the search object and a terminal identification code for uniquely identifying a portable terminal held by a search executer. Then, the server SRV transmits the identification code to a portable terminal HP held by the search executer. When the search executer discovers the search object, the search executer operates the held portable terminal HP and transmits the identification code to the portable terminal HP held by the search object. The portable terminal HP held by the search object transmits the identification code to the search server SRV. The search server SRV authenticates the portable terminal HP transmitting the identification code and when the authentication is established, the establishment of the authentication is reported to the portable terminal held by the search executer.
