Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid battery having an improvement in productivity and preventing a reduction in a life property by utilizing an expanded grid manufactured by a rotary type. SOLUTION: A plurality of slits being parallel each other are intermittently formed in such a manner to take a zigzag form along a direction longitudinally of a lead sheet. Additionally, filaments 5 shaped by the adjacent slits being parallel each other are subject to a plastic deformation so as to project convexly as well as alternately in both the front and back direction from a lead alloy sheet surface. Then, the lead alloy sheet is widthwise spread and expanded to form a mesh portion. In this method for manufacturing a lead-acid battery utilizing the mesh portion as a grid body 8, a grid skeleton takes a width dimension 10 (A) with respect to a width dimension 9 (B) of nodes 6, as 1.0A<=B<=3.0A.
