Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing a polarizer comprising a polyvinylalcohol film dyed with iodine and uniaxially stretched in an aqueous solution of boric acid, by which a drying process can be easily carried out without decreasing optical characteristics.

The method for manufacturing a polarizer features that an unstretched polyvinylalcohol film is subjected to dyeing with iodine, then to uniaxial stretching in an aqueous solution of boric acid, to impregnation treatment with iodine ion and further to immersion treatment in an alcohol liquid.
