Abstract:
Fuel is supplied by a pump into a high pressure part, and fuel feed to cylinders is controlled by solenoid valves. In the case of failure, fuel is supplied in an angled sector, in which the supply does not influence the torque. This is in the lower dead centre area of the cylinder concerned. The supplied fuel volume causes a pressure drop in the high pressure part. The volume of fuel supplied causes a flow limiter in the part to stop the fuel flow. This applies only to the faulty cylinder. Supply is within an angled sector of 100 degrees and 200 degrees crankshaft after the upper dead centre of the cylinder concerned.
