Abstract:

To provide a material for modifying blast furnace slag, which improves the quality of the blast furnace slag after having been solidified by modifying molten blast furnace slag without operation impediments, and to provide a modifying method therefor.

In the process of adding a modifying material to the molten blast furnace slag, and then cooling and solidifying it into the blast furnace slag, the modifying material is a mixture of coal ash and a substance containing iron oxides. Then, the modifying material inhibits the production of a sintered compact. The modifying method comprises adding 1 to 30 mass% modifying material to the molten blast furnace slag, and then annealing or water-granulating it into the blast furnace slag. Thereby, the blast furnace slag after having been cooled and solidified becomes dense, acquires increased specific gravity, has higher value added, and expands the field of the applications.
