To provide a question-answering device and a question-answering program which answer by extracting a term explanation and a semantic role from a Web page regarding a question on a latest current term or the like inputted by a user.
The question-answering device has: a question analysis means 22 which extracts an object term from question text inputted by a user and extracts a semantic role of a required explanation; a search means 24 which acquires a Web page closely related to the object term using the object term as a search key; an explanation portion extracting means 26 which extracts an explanation portion related to the object term from the acquired two or more Web pages; a semantic role deciding means 28 which decides the semantic role of an extracted explanation portion with respect to the object term; and an answering means 30 which answers to the question text by generating answer text from an explanation portion having a semantic role same as the said semantic role among from extracted explanation portions. Thereby, the question-answering device answers by an explanation responding to the question in consideration of the semantic role.
