Abstract:

To improve energy efficiency and miniaturize a motor.

An engine 22, two motors MG1, MG2 and a drive shaft 65 connected to drive wheels 69a, 69b are connected to a power distribution integration mechanism 30 composed of two planetary gear P1, P2, a clutch C1, and a brake B1. The power distribution integration mechanism 30 functions as four element type at a normal operation by turning the clutch C1 on and the brake B1 off. When the motor MG1 rotates in a reverse direction if the power distribution integration mechanism 30 functions as the four element type, the motor MG1 is rotated in a regular direction by turning the clutch C1 of and the brake B1 on. Consequently, drop of energy efficiency caused by reverse rotation of the motor MG1can be prevented. And, The motor MG1, MG2 can be miniaturized as compared with three element type by making the mechanism function as the four element type at the normal operation.
