Abstract:

To provide a phase-change type recording medium wherein no noise such as jitters is generated even for low output light at a short wavelength such as a blue laser, O/W characteristics are good, archival characteristics are good, and high-density recording is carried out.

The phase-change type recording medium is successively provided with at least a first recording constituting layer, a resin middle layer and a second recording constituting layer on a substrate, in which the first recording constituting layer comprises a reflective layer, a boundary layer, a first protective layer, a first recording layer, and a second protective layer sequentially from the substrate side and the second recording constituting layer comprises a third protective layer, a boundary layer, an Ag or Ag alloy layer, a fourth protective layer, a second recording layer, and a fifth protective layer sequentially from the resin middle layer side. The medium contains IZO as the third protective layer and the first and second recording layers contain at least SbTe. The refractive index of the optical constant of the boundary layers is ≥2.2 and ≤2.5 at a wavelength from 350 to 420 nm.
