To provide a line crawl correcting apparatus that can appropriately correct the line crawl depending on the luminance level of an object, suppresses the side effects of the correction as much as possible, and is capable of obtaining a satisfactory image.
The line crawl correcting apparatus comprises a luminance level detection section 5 for detecting the luminance level according to the luminance signal as the output of a luminance signal generation section 2; and a multiplier (A) 18 for multiplying the output of the luminance level detection section by a setting value, thus appropriately correcting the line crawl according to the luminance level of the object, suppressing the side effect by the correction as much as possible, and hence obtaining the satisfactory image.
